The goal index jumped strongly in the third round of the ADNOC Professional League, as 27 goals were scored in only 6 matches, bringing the average to 4.5 goals/match. The most prominent observation in that round was the significant increase in the percentage of goals scored through “mobile” attacks, compared to a clear decline in the scoring rate from set pieces, which opens the door to many technical questions and the statistics accompanying this matter!
88.8%
The net received 27 goals in that round, including 24 from “movement”, at a rate of 88.8% of the total goals, compared to only 11.2% for “fixed” goals. In fact, the referees only awarded one penalty kick in the six matches that were scored, and the “nine-goal” match between “the Knights” and “the Owners of Happiness” witnessed that, with all the goals being scored through “moving attacks”, which revealed a dazzling tactical “collective state”, with 8 goals being scored through decisive passes between the players on each team.
44.4%
The attacking “right flanks” were strongly present with most teams in that round, after contributing to scoring 12 goals, representing 44.4% of the “goal tally”, while the “left side” participated in shaking the net 8 times, and the attacking depth was the least influential by participating in 7 goals, and 4 teams were equal in exploiting the spaces on the right side, with each of them scoring two goals through it, namely “Ashab Al-Saada”, “Al-Samawi”, “Al-Nusour” and “Al-Raqi”.
50%
Aside from the three goals from set pieces, the goals of “movement” were equally divided between “speed” and “calm rhythm”, with 12 goals scored for each “tactic”. “The Emperor” was the most exploitative of “organized” attacks with the largest number of passes and calm rhythm, scoring his three goals through them, while “the speed of the knights” stood out strongly, after scoring 4 goals out of the 5 through “snatching rhythm”, as it shook the net of “Al-Annabi” 3 times through counterattacks, compared to one goal from high pressure and seizing the ball in advanced defense areas.
70%
According to the goal-scoring methods in that round, it was logical for through passes to dominate the scene with deep penetrations towards the flanks and short side passes at the end, which represented 70% of the round’s harvest, as the matches witnessed 9 goals scored through through passes, in addition to one goal from a “give and take” dual game, and deep penetrations on both sides also produced 7 goals, and it is possible to add 6 more goals scored through cross passes, including 2 ground ones, to that technical harvest.
15%
Despite the clear decline in the scoring rates from set pieces since the start of the current season, as 13 goals were scored through them out of a total of 73, at a rate of 17.8%, the third round witnessed the scoring of the second goal from “direct free kicks” this season, and unlike previous versions, these kicks have a very acceptable rate among the total “set pieces” goals, as they represent 15.4% of them. Fabio Lima had scored the first of these “skillful” goals against the “Tigers” during the draw against the “Emperor”, then Mohammad Reza Azadi returned to score the second kick against Khorfakkan, during the loss of his team, Al-Orouba, in a “strange paradox”, as the direct free kick goals did not succeed in giving victory to either of them!
