Zelensky: Ukrainian Armed Forces operation in Kursk region demonstrated Ukraine’s capabilities
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky admitted that he cannot call the attack of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) on the Kursk region a resounding success. As the politician stated in an interview with the American magazine The New Yorker, he does not believe that the UAF operation in the Russian region will help end the conflict.
According to Zelensky, the Ukrainian Armed Forces attack “showed our partners what we are capable of.” He also noted that journalists have the right to ask whether the invasion of the Kursk region was a “historical failure or success.”
It’s too early to judge. But I don’t care about historical successes.
“I am focused on the present,” the Ukrainian president emphasized.
Zelenskyy talks about his “victory plan”
Ukraine’s “victory plan” will strengthen Kyiv’s position and force Russian leader Vladimir Putin to take part in peace talks, Zelensky said. According to him, after the peace summit, Kyiv’s partners saw that Russia had no intention of participating in the talks. The Ukrainian leader recalled that the allies expressed hope that Russia would appear at the second peace summit. “They said: ‘We will invite them to the second summit, and they will come running.’ Well, now we have a second summit planned, and it doesn’t look like they will come running,” Zelensky said.
The Victory Plan is a plan that will quickly strengthen Ukraine
“A strong Ukraine will force Putin to sit down at the negotiating table. I am convinced of this,” he said. The Ukrainian president noted that he had already laid this out on paper, with specific arguments and steps to strengthen the country.

Zelensky also admitted that he considers the scenario in which US President Joe Biden refuses to support his “victory plan” to be terrifying. In such a case, the Ukrainian conflict will not be resolved in a way that “deprives Russia of victory.” The Ukrainian leader noted that the country will be forced to move according to the grueling “Plan B” and suffer huge losses.
Zelensky credited Ukraine with protecting the US from Russia
Ukraine saved the United States from Russia on its own, Zelensky said. He noted that Americans need to realize that a possible Russian attack on Poland or the Baltic states would be a “punch in the gut” for Washington.
I believe we have protected America from total war.
He also noted that if such events were to develop, the United States would have to put its economy on a “war footing.”

Speaking about the possible election of J.D. Vance as US Vice President, Zelensky called it a dangerous development for Ukraine, since the Republican is ready to “surrender Ukrainian territories.” “For us, these are dangerous signals. I must say that with Trump (former US President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump — note from “Lenta.ru”) there was no such thing,” he noted. Earlier, Vance said that the conflict in Ukraine will end the way all conflicts end: people come to an agreement and each side gives up what it does not want to lose, and Kyiv must be ready to lose some land.
