US Vice President Kamala Harris announced yesterday that she has accepted an invitation from CNN to debate former President Donald Trump on October 23, while the Republican candidate revealed that he would decline the debate. The Harris campaign said in a statement: “The Vice President is ready for another opportunity to share the debate stage with Trump,” adding: “Trump should have no problem agreeing to this debate.” Harris said on “X”: “I will gladly accept a second debate, and I hope Trump joins on October 23.”
For his part, Trump responded, saying that “it is too late to have another debate,” adding that holding another debate now is too late, and voting has already begun.
Health care programs are at the forefront of influential issues in the presidential election race, and determine the voting trends of millions of voters. The Obamacare law is at the forefront of important issues related to the health care sector, as the positions of candidates on the law are very different. Marco Massad, a researcher at the Center for Middle East Studies in Washington, explained that health care programs and laws are of great importance to voters because they affect the lifeblood of Americans.
In statements to Al-Ittihad, Masoud said that Trump and Harris are placing health care issues, programs and laws on their electoral list of priorities, especially the Affordable Care Act known as “Obamacare,” as Trump takes a position different from Harris’s position towards this law, which is of great interest to millions of Americans.
“Trump has pledged, both during his presidency and his current campaign, to repeal and replace Obamacare and create a new, better health care program. Harris has pledged to strengthen the law and extend the improved tax credits under President Biden that have lowered health care premiums, explaining that without the law, health care costs would have risen,” he said.
For his part, American politician Dr. Naaman Abu Issa explained in a statement to Al-Ittihad that health care programs and the Obamacare law represent an important matter for the middle and poor classes in the swing states, and play an influential role in the electoral race.
