Virtually nothing is known about The Elder Scrolls VI yet.but the community expectations are already very high. Perhaps too much, according to a former Bethesda player, who says the final game will never live up to their expectations. It makes you think that the Starfield case could happen again, where expectations made many lose sight of the actual game, but considering that nothing is known for sure about the sequel to Skyrim, it is impossible to make any predictions.
Expectations sky high
The one who touched on the subject was former designer Bruce Nesmith, who spoke about it with Kiwi Talkz, explaining that, although he believed that The Elder Scrolls VI Will Be “An Incredible Game”it will be difficult, indeed “almost impossible” for it to live up to the players’ expectations.
“Elder Scrolls VI is going to be an incredible game, no doubt, but it’s going to be compared to every game that Bethesda has ever made. Just like every studio’s game is compared to its predecessors,” he explained. “Their expectations are going to be almost impossible to meet,” he said of the game’s fans, adding that in cases like that, “marketing departments are going to tear their hair out and cry.”
Nesmith then touched on the topic of how games with a Metacritic below 95 are considered almost failures by many. We can all agree that this is a senseless way of seeing things, but there is no doubt that discussions about grade averages are very present in the sector, more than in others.
That said, it’s only natural that the sequel to one of the best-selling electronic role-playing games of all time is highly anticipated and that many hope that it will improve on the experience of the previous chapter. You just shouldn’t expect the impossible.
