Not all video game projects succeed (in fact, many more are cancelled) and sometimes certain products are not actually put aside but disappear and end up in oblivion. Sometimes, however, they come back. An example is the remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (Star Wars KOTOR if you prefer) by Saber Interactive.
The highly anticipated and talked about game had disappeared behind the scenes after alleged development problems. Now, however, the publisher has cited the video game by placing it among the list of titles “Coming soon“.
Saber Interactive’s words
The information comes from a press release from Saber Interactive. The company has received investment and in the middle of its statement wrote: “Saber Interactive is a leading independent developer of games for all major platforms, based on original and licensed IP, including hit titles such as Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, World War Z, SnowRunner, Expeditions: A MudRunner Game, Insurgency: Sandstorm, and an exciting slate of upcoming titles, including Star Wars: Knights of the Old RepublicJurassic Park: Survival, John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando, A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead, RoadCraft, Tempest Rising and many more. With over 3,000 employees, Saber operates 13 studios located in Western and Eastern Europe, the United States and South America.”
Obviously the part that attracts the most attention is Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. It’s hard to say whether it’s really a hint that the game is ready to return, or whether the publisher decided to include the name in the list because it has a certain impact as a video game based on a great saga. We hope to receive more precise information soon… perhaps at the much talked about State of Play?
