This is the second incident involving the governor of Pará in three weeks; he was traveling to an event in São Caetano de Odivelas
The governor of Pará, Helder Barbalho (MDB), stated that the plane he was traveling in had to make a “unscheduled landing” on Wednesday (18.Sep.2024) due to smoke. In a video, the MDB member said he was taking off from Irituia (PA) to inaugurate a waterfront in São Caetano de Odivelas (PA).
“Dear friends from São Caetano de Odivelas, unfortunately, we were unable to travel from Irituia. I was there, too, inaugurating a construction project in the city and, due to the smoke, we had to make an unscheduled landing in Santa Maria do Pará.”said Barbalho.
This is the 2nd emergency landing of a plane carrying the governor in 3 weeks. 1st landingon August 31, was announced on his social network. Barbalho did not mention the reason, he only said that there was a “incident”.
The governor apologized to the people of São Caetano de Odivelas for canceling the event and proposed rescheduling it for September 30th. No one was injured.
