Israeli fighter jets broke the sound barrier over the capital during a speech by the Shiite cleric, causing intense rumblings which made doors, windows and glass shake, and even set off car alarms in the streets.
Fighter jets had been flying low over the city since shortly after the speech began, causing enveloping noises, while other fighter planes intensively bombed the south of the country coinciding also with the approval of plans by the Israeli Army for its front against Lebanon.
The Lebanese National News Agency (ANN) reported that in parallel, the Jewish state’s aircraft launched “thermal balloons” in the southern suburbs of Beirut known as el-Dahye, a major Hezbollah stronghold, and said there were also sonic booms in other areas of the country.
In the last two days, Two waves of chain explosions shook thousands of pagers and radio communication devices in the hands of Hezbollah members in various parts of Lebanon, causing 37 deaths, including two children, and nearly 3,000 injuries.
The unprecedented attack, attributed to the Jewish state, has raised tensions between the parties and Nasrallah believes that “all established limits” have been crossed.
“On Tuesday, the Israeli enemy targeted thousands of beepers that were detonated at the same time. The enemy crossed all limits, laws and red lines in this operation, and did not care at all,” the Shiite cleric said during his speech.
