Economy Minister Habeck says Germany’s energy crisis is over
The German economy has overcome the gas shortage that was caused by the cessation of supplies from Russia, and this problem of the last two years is no longer felt, said German Economy Minister Robert Habeck, reports World.
According to him, the absence of Russian gas is no longer felt, the deficit is over. At the same time, he admitted that the cost of fuel will not return to the pre-crisis level. Until 2023, Germany was the largest market for Gazprom.
Since 2022, Germany has been in a gas security emergency. The country has been actively pursuing a fuel-saving policy and looking for alternative suppliers. These problems have led to a slowdown in the national economy that has not been overcome to this day. One of the consequences of rising energy prices could be an unprecedented closure of Volkswagen plants.
At the same time, the republic’s stock market is in a state of active growth, which indicates investors’ faith in the prospects of the German economy. Since the beginning of the year, the S&P Germany BMI Liquid 35/20 Capped index, which unites the 30 most liquid shares of the German market, has grown by 14 percent.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin admitted that he does not understand why Berlin does not want to reach an agreement with Moscow on the use of one of the branches of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline that survived the explosion and was never certified.
