Ubisoft will soon be focusing on Assassin’s Creed Shadows, its big game of the fall, but it also recently released Star Wars Outlawsan open-world adventure set in the Galaxy Far, Far Away. The press has responded generally positively to the video game, but how has the public reacted in terms of sales?
At the moment we do not have official data, so we cannot answer precisely, but there are always estimates from analysis companies that give us a point of reference to rely on. For example Ampere Analysis he had his say and the first numbers don’t seem incredible.
Estimated sales numbers for Star Wars Outlaws
Star Wars Outlaws is reported to have sold 800,000 units across all platforms (PC, Xbox and PlayStation) at launch (i.e. in the first two days). We repeat that these are not official numbers and we cannot consider them very precise, but they still give us an idea of how much success a work like this has had.
The GameIndustry.biz Microcast is talking about it, during which journalists state that these numbers are not incredible. Remember that we have to consider the costs of a product of this type (just think of the Star Wars license, which will have its own price). GI also suggests that it is not the only Ubisoft game that has not achieved particularly positive results.
The outlet says that both Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and Skull and Bones didn’t do particularly well. Prince of Persia The Lost Crown didn’t really do a huge amount either. Assassin’s Creed Mirage seems to have done better, at least. In general, though, Ubisoft hasn’t been able to get incredible results with a video game for a long time; will Assassin’s Creed Shadows be able to change that?
