Five An employee of the Harrods luxury department store has been said to have managed the department store by Mohamed Al-Fayed raped them. A different kind of sexual harassment is the British Broadcasting Corporation told the BBC more than 20 employees.
Al-Fayed died last year at the age of 94.
Rapes and harassment are reported in a BBC documentary and podcast Al-Fayed: Predator at Harrods. According to the program, during Al-Fayed’s time, the department store not only ignored the allegations of abuse, but also helped cover them up.
The department store’s current owners say in the program that they are “completely shocked” by the information and apologize to the employees for their treatment.
According to the BBC, rape and abuse took place in different parts of the world: London, Paris, St Tropez and Abu Dhabi.
“Mohamed Al-Fayed was a monster, a sexual predator without any kind of moral compass,” says a woman interviewed by the BBC. The woman said she was a teenager when she was raped by Al-Fayed in his apartment in London’s posh Mayfair district.
The woman characterizes the employees of the department store as Al-Fayed’s “playthings”.
Egyptian-born Mohamed Al-Fayed is remembered not only as the owner of the department store, but also for his connection with Princess Diana. Son of Al-Fayed Dodi Al-Fayed was with Princess Diana when the car carrying the two of them derailed with fatal consequences into the tunnel wall in London in 1997. Diana and Dodi Al-Fayed died in the accident.
