Representatives of the Social Security workers’ federation met with members of the Executive; employees began strike in July
The government has proposed to mediate a solution by Friday (20.Sep.2024) to end the strike by INSS (National Institute of Social Security) employees, according to the Fenasps (National Federation of Health, Labor, Social Security and Welfare Workers’ Unions). Representatives of the federation met on Wednesday (18.Sep) with members of the Executive.
INSS employees went on strike on July 16. By order of the STJ (Superior Court of Justice), the agency is operating with 85% of its staff. Among the demands of the category is the recovery of salary losses.
According to Fenasps, the meeting aimed to “to expose to the various areas and institutional Secretariats of the presidential office the impasses and difficulties of the social security career servers” after more than 60 days of strike.
The federation spoke of “serious problems” that the INSS faces and “reported all the steps involved in the negotiation process so far”.
According to Fenasps, “even with the consent” from the president of INSS, Alessandro Stefanutto, and the minister Carlos Lupi (Social Security), to the demands, the category “has not been able to receive or open a dialogue with the MGI [Ministério da Gestão e da Inovação em Serviços Públicos] after the signing of an agreement at the temporary negotiating table by one of the national trade union entities”.
The federation’s note reads: “The National Strike Command considers the hearing/meeting to be very positive and will wait until Friday. [20.set]requested by the Presidency’s office, when it will inform about the steps taken”.
