Bad weather alert in Bologna, the Savena torrent rises in level due to the rain and the evacuation of some homes is triggered. The Municipality, after the closure of middle and high schools, also orders the closure of other institutes. The situation is being monitored in large areas of the region, where the red weather alert is being reduced.
The picture is worrying also in Romagna. “The situation is worsening and worsening rapidly. The river level is constantly monitored and has reached 6.19 meters in Tebano. The Fire Department UCL has been mobilized and the Local Police will be around with megaphones to alert citizens of the serious situation we are experiencing”, explains Luca della Godenza, mayor of Castel Bolognese, in the Ravenna area, on Facebook.
“The situation is much more serious than last year – he then added to Rainews – we are holding our breath, the risk is that there will be much more damage than last year. With the few means we have available we are trying to do our best, to give it our all, to save people, but I see it worse than last year”.
“After last year’s flood, we repaired and restored part of the territory, but it takes time,” the mayor continues. “I believe that the entire system needs to be rethought, starting from the hills that have been abandoned and heavy rains wash away earth and trees, all the way to the city.” On his Facebook profile, the mayor appeals to citizens to stay at home, not go out for any reason, to go up to the upper floors of their homes and to always keep their cell phone batteries charged. “We are facing an extreme emergency situation. We ask for your full cooperation: scrupulously follow the instructions for your safety and that of everyone,” he concludes.
