According to statistics, less than half of women pay attention to the alarming signs of diseases, according to a report by the leading national charity of Great Britain The Eve Appeal, which is engaged in research into five types of gynaecological cancer: cancer of the uterus, ovaries, cervix, vulva and vagina. The experts of the organization named the main symptoms of these deadly diseases, writes The Sun.
According to the organization’s CEO, Athena Lamnisos, only 45 percent of women seek medical help when they experience bleeding after their period has stopped, and even fewer seek medical help when they bleed between periods. Meanwhile, experts warn that these are the main signs of problems with women’s health.
Lanizos also pointed out the telltale symptoms of ovarian cancer. She urged not to ignore an increase in the size of the abdomen and frequent bloating, pain in the pelvis, back and abdomen, unexplained changes in bowel function, difficulty eating, feeling full quickly or nausea, constant urge to go to the toilet, as well as pain during sex and fatigue.

“Uterine cancer (or endometrial cancer) is accompanied by bleeding after menopause or between periods, vaginal discharge mixed with blood (pink, brown, red). Vulvar cancer, in turn, is characterized by prolonged itching or soreness of the external genitalia, spots on the genitals, ulcers and lumps,” the specialist commented.
Vaginal cancer, according to the specialist, can be suspected by bleeding, discharge with an unpleasant odor, pain during sex, the presence of a noticeable tumor, constant pain in the pelvis and pain when urinating.
Cervical cancer can develop in women of any age, but it is most often diagnosed at 30-34 years old, experts warned. Symptoms of cervical cancer are not always obvious, and the disease can be asymptomatic until it reaches a late stage. If bleeding or pain occurs during sex, or discharge with an unpleasant odor, you should immediately consult a doctor.
Earlier, oncologist Dmitry Subbotin called ovarian cancer a “silent killer” because it often has no symptoms in the early stages. According to him, in some cases the disease can be recognized by increased flatulence.
