At least three people died on Thursday (12) in a Russian attack that hit a Red Cross convoy in the Donetsk region, in eastern Ukraine, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
“At this moment we know of two injured people, who are receiving all necessary assistance. Unfortunately, three people were killed in this Russian attack. Our condolences to their families and friends,” Zelensky wrote on his social media along with a photo showing a burning Red Cross truck.
The Ukrainian president referred to what happened as “another Russian war crime.”
“It is absolutely clear: Russia brings evil, Ukraine protects life. And if someone wants to hear ‘both sides’, this in Russia is simply received as a license to continue killing,” Zelensky added.
The Ukrainian head of state also called on the international community to react “strongly and clearly” to Thursday’s attack.
On the other hand, the Russian Army has recaptured ten cities from Kiev in the Kursk border region in the last 48 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry wrote.
The Sever (North) military group launched a counterattack two days ago that allowed it to recapture cities such as Snagost, Biajovo and Gordeevka, the Russian military statement detailed.
The towns of Apanasovka, Vishnevka, Viktorovka, Vpezapnoye, Krasnooktiabrskoye, Obukhovka and 10th Oktyabr were also targeted by Moscow’s operations.
The recovery of Snagost, converted into a fortified post of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk territories, allows the Russian Army to unblock a large unit trapped in the neighboring Glushkovo district, between the Seim River and the Ukrainian border, namely Moscow.
The first to report on the Russian offensive on Kursk were Russian military bloggers who are propaganda for Vladimir Putin’s regime. They reported that at least 150 square kilometers of the Kursk front had been recovered in recent days.
The counterattack was later confirmed by several independent media outlets and by the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW), which analyzed the operation that began on August 6 in its latest report this Thursday.
The Deep State project, close to the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, had previously reported on the “deterioration of the situation on the left flank of the Ukrainian grouping in Kursk” and an intensification of attacks on Snagost.
The Ukrainian military command stated in late August that the country’s forces controlled a hundred Kursk localities in a territory of 1,300 square kilometers.
