Japanese where are you?
In these last seasons the MotoGP has transformed itself – as far as the top houses are concerned – into a sort of European Championship. Behind Ducati, now the dominant manufacturer on the grid, Aprilia and KTM emerge, which are the main pursuers of the reds from Borgo Panigale. Behind, the void. Yamaha And Honda – who have dominated the MotoGP championship for decades with almost no rivals – are now confined to the positions of extreme backup. However, MotoGP would certainly need some competitive Japanese bikes.
According to one of the paddock gurus, Charles Pernatthe situation between the two giants of the Rising Sun is very different. While Honda seems really far from being able to straighten out a dramatic sporting situation, the the house of the three tuning forks seems better equipped and on the road to a comeback towards the top positions. The Genoese manager spoke to us about this situation, revealing that he was very close to bringing his client, Enea Bastianiniright in Yamaha and to be sure of the possible return to the top of the Iwata house.
Pernat bets on Iwata
“I wouldn’t hesitate to put some chips on Yamaha. – Pernat explained to FormulaPassion.it – give it a couple of years and it will arrivebecause they have taken Massimo Bartolini and other important people. They are investing a lot of money, they will have Pramac with them with Paolo Campinoti who will give them a big hand and I have no doubts about them. We with Enea [Bastianini] we were close to going to them, we were not far. I have huge question marks about Honda, while I can put my hand in the fire about Yamaha“.
Pernat’s is a prediction but also a wishbecause it is clear that a championship open to more constructors automatically becomes more interesting: “You can’t go on making some sort of European championship – the Genoese manager underlined – but I firmly believe that Yamaha will arrive. Next year, or even towards the end of this season, it could return to occupy the top-10. And then we’ll see“.
