Steve Jobs introduced the first iPhone in 2007. Since then, Apple has held an annual event to unveil some of the best-selling phones on the planet. This Monday, it’s the turn of the iPhone 16. Four models are expected — the iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max — which, in theory, will be the company’s most prepared phones in the field of artificial intelligence. The presentation, which is taking place at Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino, began with the presentation of the new Apple Watch and AirPods.
The first device to be unveiled was the Apple Watch Series 10, “with a larger display and thinner design than ever before,” according to Cook. Jeff Williams, Apple’s chief operating officer, explained that the larger display is especially useful for increasing the font size without sacrificing content and answering messages from the watch. The screen is also more rounded and 40% brighter.
The iPhone 16 will have more physical buttons, according to leaks. The one that has been most talked about is designed to make taking photos easier and bring the experience closer to using a traditional camera. In addition, the “action button” — previously exclusive to the Pro models — could reach all models, allowing quick access to functions such as the camera or flashlight. The iPhone 16 and 16 Plus will also debut a rear camera module with a vertical arrangement similar to that of the iPhone 12 — instead of the diagonal one of the most recent models.
There will also be some new developments for the more powerful iPhones, which will supposedly have larger screens than their predecessors. In addition, the iPhone 16 Pro could incorporate the tetraprism telephoto lens currently found on the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Meanwhile, the iPhone 16 Pro Max will apparently integrate a super telephoto lens designed to transform zoom and autofocus. While all iPhone 16 models are expected to debut the A18 chip, it is not clear whether the Pro models will incorporate a more powerful version.
New Apple Watch
The Apple Watch is the world’s best selling smartwatchaccording to research firm ABI Research. The company is expected to launch three new models: the Apple Watch Series 10, the Apple Watch Ultra 3, and a revamped version of the Apple Watch SE. The Series 10’s flagship feature is expected to be sleep apnea detection. Sleep apnea is a common condition in which breathing stops and starts many times during sleep. This can prevent the body from getting enough oxygen, as indicated by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) of the United States.
To mark the Apple Watch’s 10th anniversary, the Series 10 is likely to receive a significant redesign. It’s expected to feature slightly larger displays and a slimmer profile, as well as a new magnetic system for attaching the straps. This change could be controversial, as previous straps may not be compatible with the new models.
In addition to the iPhone 16 and the new Apple Watch, Apple is expected to introduce two different versions of the AirPods 4, both with improvements in sound and battery life. According to leaks, the most advanced version could include, for the first time, noise cancellation. Until now, this feature had been exclusive to the AirPods Pro and Max models, marking a significant change in the product line.
