The three reviews, led by external experts, are set to look at ways to ensure Britain’s diplomatic relations allow it to respond to geopolitical changes, get the most out of its development aid work, and ensure foreign policy meets the country’s economic and trade ambitions.
“These reviews will help us shape our strategy to increase the UK’s global influence, drive growth internationally and ensure development and diplomacy work hand in hand,” said Foreign Secretary David Lammy.
Earlier, the Labour-led government, which took power in July, said long-term peace and security in the Middle East would be a focus of its immediate foreign policy.
The government also wants to reshape Britain’s relationship with the European Union, and has said its commitment to NATO is “unshakable”.
