Scientists have determined that the composition “Milan Variations” was written by Mozart
The composition “Milan Variations”, the authorship of which was previously attributed to an unknown composer, was written by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart himself. This was reported to the Styrian State Archives by Austrian and German scientists.
Paul Duncan and Karsten Wollin, who have long been engaged in research into compositions from the Mozart era, came to the conclusion that the work belongs to the legendary author himself, and not to someone from his circle.
The work was reportedly written in 1771 for the wedding of Archduke Ferdinand Karl and Maria Beatrice d’Este. At the same time, the 15-year-old composer composed the opera Ascanius in Alba.
“The conclusions about the authorship led to the musical prodigy Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The little-known work falls in a period in which Mozart, as far as is known, did not compose pieces for the piano,” the archive’s press service reported.
Earlier it became known that the last house in which Mozart lived was put up for auction.
