State Duma Chairman Volodin: Trade between Russia and Vietnam could reach $15 billion by 2030
Trade turnover between Russia and Vietnam could reach $15 billion by 2030. This forecast was given by State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin, his words are quoted by TASS.
The total volumes of bilateral trade have been growing steadily lately, he specified. According to Volodin, the authorities of the two countries have all the necessary resources and opportunities to maintain positive dynamics in trade and economic relations in the next six years. “We are discussing the possibility of reaching a trade turnover (of Russia and Vietnam — note from “Lenta.ru”) around 15 billion dollars,” the head of the State Duma summed up.
He also added that the current format of the interparliamentary commission has proven its effectiveness. Such a mechanism of bilateral interaction needs to be developed further. “We need to create a legal framework for the development of economic contacts, cooperation in strategic areas,” Volodin concluded.
Earlier, President Vladimir Putin announced the transition of 60 percent of trade between Russia and Vietnam to national currencies at the beginning of 2024. The head of state recalled that by the end of 2023, transactions in rubles and dongs ensured the implementation of more than 40 percent of bilateral settlements. Against this background, Putin called on the authorities of both countries to continue to increase the share of national currencies in the structure of trade and economic transactions, noting the importance of such a strategy.
