A 58-year-old mobilized soldier told how his fellow soldiers abandoned him near Sergeyevka
58-year-old Vyacheslav Arzhakov, who was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), was abandoned by his fellow soldiers near Sergeyevka in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR). The man told the details of the betrayal in an interview with RIA Novosti.
“They took me, said, we’ll take you for one day, to see something, to guard you. They took me, abandoned me and that was it… Near Sergeyevka,” Arzhakov said.
He noted that initially there were six soldiers at the position, but four of his fellow soldiers fled. A mobilized soldier and another soldier with a radio remained at the site. Later, he also disappeared in an unknown direction.
Arzhakov said that, left alone, he decided to surrender.
On May 18, a law on tightening mobilization came into force in Ukraine, according to which citizens liable for military service abroad will be denied consular services. In addition, according to the new rules, failure to appear at the territorial recruitment center in response to a summons will result in a ban on driving a car. However, demobilization is not provided for by law.
