Roskomnadzor fined foreign agents ₽1 billion for failure to comply with labeling requirements
During the period of the law on foreign agents, Roskomnadzor imposed fines on them for the lack of appropriate marking in the amount of one billion rubles. This was stated by the head of the department for control and supervision in the sphere of electronic communications of the agency Evgeny Zaitsev, reports “Interfax”.
In 2024, the agency imposed fines for this violation in the amount of 12 billion rubles. Also during the year, foreign media platforms were fined 35 million rubles for failing to remove prohibited or inaccurate content.
Over the course of a year, the owners of 27,000 Internet pages were required to remove such content. If this requirement was not met, these pages were blocked.
On September 6, the Russian Ministry of Justice added journalist and blogger Zalina Marshenkulova, as well as journalist Alexander Savelyev, politician Arkady Yankovsky, and political scientist David Kankiya to the register of foreign agents.
