The Moroccan national team bid farewell to the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, currently being held in Colombia.
The Moroccan national team lost 0-2 to its Spanish counterpart, in the third and final round in Group 3 of the tournament’s group stage, which also witnessed a crushing 7-0 victory for the United States national team over the Paraguayan national team.
Spain, who had already qualified for the knockout stage since the previous round, maintained their lead with 9 points, achieving a perfect score, after winning all three of their group matches. In contrast, the United States team rose to 6 points in second place, to book a place in the knockout stages of the World Cup, while Paraguay’s points froze at 3 points in third place, waiting to be among the best 4 teams that achieved this position in the six groups in the first round of the competition, qualifying for the round of 16.
For its part, the Moroccan national team, the only representative of Arab football in the World Cup, remained in last place with no points, after losing all three of its matches in the group, and officially bid farewell to the tournament.
It is noteworthy that the World Cup regulations stipulate that the first and second place teams of each of the six groups qualify for the knockout stage, in addition to the best four teams that come in third place.
