Rosatom top manager Sakharov confirmed receiving money without admitting guilt
Gennady Sakharov, a top manager at the state corporation Rosatom accused of bribery, confirmed that he had received money from a businessman for consulting on contracts, without admitting his guilt. This was reported by the agency with reference to the investigation materials RIA Novosti.
“The charges were presented in the final version. He did not admit guilt. During the interrogation, he confirmed the fact of receiving funds from the general director (of the company “Orgenergostroy” Elgudzhi Kokosadze – note from “Lenta.ru”), showing that he received funds for consulting the said organization in the implementation of contracts concluded with organizations subordinate to the State Corporation Rosatom,” the document states.
A criminal case against Sakharov was opened in March of this year. He is charged with receiving a bribe on an especially large scale and faces up to 15 years in prison. The CEO is also involved in this case and is accused of giving a bribe.
Earlier, Gennady Sakharov was accused of receiving kickbacks in the amount of 23 million rubles from the head of a construction company. According to the investigation, Sakharov received monetary compensation from Kokosadze for three years for lobbying the interests of the developer and obtaining lucrative contracts for him.
