The Left Party managed it at the very last minute: it is back in the Saxon parliament, although it fell short of the five percent hurdle in the election. But it won two direct mandates, and whoever manages to do that can enter the state parliament in Saxony as a parliamentary group via the basic mandate clause. With far-reaching consequences: just because the Left Party is back in parliament, the AfD does not have a blocking minority like in Thuringia.
