Ciudad Juarez.- Mariel Hernández Santiago, 14, has become the first teenager to graduate from primary school at the Community Center of the Autonomous University of Ciudad Juárez (UACJ), located in the southeastern part of the city.
The young woman, accompanied by her family and teachers from the center, celebrated her achievement with an emotional symbolic ceremony.
Due to the lack of space in other basic education institutions near the Parajes del Sur subdivision, her aunt enrolled her in this center, where she received support to complete her studies in a non-school system.
“Mariel has set an example for all the children at the community center, showing that it is possible to achieve goals, regardless of the conditions. She completed primary school in a year and a half, and is now ready to start secondary school next Monday right here,” said Flor Rocío Ramírez, general director of the center.
UACJ students participated in Mariel’s education as part of their social service, using the Chihuahua Institute of Adult Education (ICHEA) program to support her in her academic training.
