Bottas’s future
The arrival of Nico Hülkenberg in Sauber for next season, with the Swiss team coming under the control of Audi in 2026, will lead to an inevitable change in the Swiss team’s line-up starting next season. With Carlos Sainz moving to Williams, Valtteri Bottas he lost the chance to return to the team with which he made his Formula 1 debut, with his hopes of remaining in the top flight therefore remaining with Sauber, even more so considering the probable promotion of Jack Doohan for 2025 to Alpine in place of Esteban Ocon, already under contract with Haas.
A conclusion before the resumption of the games
Interviewed by Motorsport Weekthe Finn admitted that with the arrival of Mattia Binotto he will be able to ‘reset’ negotiations with the team, in the hope of being able to reach a conclusion before the resumption of the championship: “I don’t have a clear answer – admitted the former Mercedes driver – I’m getting to the point that sooner or later, as everyone knows, if things drag on after the August break it can start to get quite unnerving“.
Respect first and foremost
An uncertain future and a complicated 2024 for Bottas, especially in a season in which the Finn has changed his race engineer and in which Sauber is still the only team not to have scored points in the Constructors’ Championship. The possibility of staying with the Swiss team for 2025 is still there for #77, who however asks for a certain respect: “I believe that this option is still valid – he added – but since Sauber didn’t give priority to me in the initial discussions, I thought about going somewhere else where I can be appreciated. It’s part of the business, sure, but I also want to be in a place where I am respectedwhere all the people know what I can achieve and give to the team”.
