For several years now the Red Bull It is known in the world of motorsport for having its own Academy full of young and promising talents, and history has often proven this great nursery created by Helmut Marko in 2001 right. Here, in fact, several drivers who later reached F1 grew up, such as Sainz, Ricciardo and Gasly, or even others who became world champions several times, such as Verstappen and Vettel, in both cases at the wheel of Red Bulls.
In recent days, the Red Bull Junior Team has started the search for new talents to include in its youth sector with the Red Bull Driver Search: a program lasting two days held on the Jerez circuit de la Frontera where 11 candidates faced tests at the wheel of Formula 4 and GB3 single-seaters under the supervision of Helmut Marko. A test that ended with the promotion of two drivers to the Red Bull Junior Team: the Northern Irishman Fionn McLaughlinsixteen years old, and the Swede Scott Lindblomjust 14 years old.
While the latter will continue his experience with karts, McLaughlin will make his debut in F4 in 2025: “The important thing is to see most of them for the first time in a Formula car. – Marko explained in a statement reported by planetf1.com – how they adapt, how quickly they progress and how they improve during a two-day test. We look for both talent and speed, a driver who can win a Grand Prix. We are really focused on how good these drivers are under pressure and on qualifying simulations. We don’t buy stars, we create them. We give them the opportunity to use our simulators in Milton Keynes and be supported in their training and nutrition. It’s perfect preparation for Formula 1.”
