After six months of implementation, the 4 Days Week program released the first data from employees and companies that adopted the shorter work week project in Brazil.
According to the survey, weekly anxiety was reduced by 30.5%, while productivity increased by 71.5%. The companies arrived at this data based on employee responses to reports and feedback from area managers. In addition, 84.6% of leaders believe that participating in the pilot brought benefits to their companies and 97.5% of people would very much like to see the 4-day week continue in the company.
+ Almost 30% of those who work a 4-day week would not trade the shift for a higher salary
The first pilot was carried out with 19 companies and more than 250 employees. Brazil is the first country in South America to embark on this journey. The test was carried out using a model called 100-80-100TM: 100% of salary, 80% of working hours and 100% of productivity.
“The research shows that the pilot was very successful because the participating companies were willing to redesign their ways of working and implement new tools to reduce unproductivity,” says Renata Rivetti, director of Reconnect Happiness at Work.
On the companies’ side, 84.6% of leaders believe that participating in the pilot brought benefits to their companies. According to the survey, 72.7% of companies reported an increase in revenue and 63.6% had higher profits compared to the same period in 2023.
Less frustration at work
The study also found a 65.5% reduction in frustration with frequent work and a 49.8% reduction in work as emotionally draining. In addition, employees believe that feelings of frequent fatigue have reduced by 36.2%, as has morning exhaustion when thinking about going to work by 64.7%.
Workers also said they felt better about doing their jobs with more creativity. According to the survey, 87.4% had more energy to perform their tasks and 80.7% presented their work with more creativity and innovation.
“The benefits mentioned by employees were broad and significant. In addition to improved health and work-life balance, there was an increase in job satisfaction and productivity, as well as greater flexibility and improved organization and commitment to work,” reinforces Renata.
