No return to Woking for Newey
This second week of summer break for F1 has opened with Aston Martin accelerating in the race for Adrian Newey. Lawrence Stroll’s team seems to have overtaken Ferrari in the fight to boast the services of the aerodynamics wizard, but only an official statement will actually put an end to the soap opera that began after May 1st when Newey has made official the end of its collaboration with Red Bull.
The one who withdrew from the contest for Adrian Newey is the McLarena team that recently welcomed Rob Marshall from Red Bull. The Woking team is currently the technical reference of F1 and according to CEO Zak Brown it is not necessary to sign Adrian Newey.
“We have no intention of signing Adrian Newey – Brown declared when interviewed by BBC – Adrian is a great friend and a unique talent with a resume that is second to none. However, I am very satisfied with the team and I could not wish for anything better. We will try to win the world championship with the figures we already have at our disposal, I am convinced that we have all the credentials to succeed”.
