Three mobile homes are causing trouble in Trento, northern Italy. They ignore a parking ban and block 14 parking spaces.
Trento – On the former Italcementi site on the western edge of Trento (Italy) there is a parking lot that has space for 584 cars. At least if no one decides to ignore the ban on camper vans in the public parking lot.
Motorhome trouble in Italy: Campers take up 14 parking spaces – and even hang up laundry
On Wednesday (6 August) that was exactly the case. Three mobile homes had taken up space and taken up 14 parking spaces, as the newspaper The Dolomites documented with a photo. A dog was lying on the asphalt, laundry was hanging out to dry and the mobile homes were parked in such a way that no cars could park nearby.
Near Lake Garda and the Alps: Campers apparently use the parking lot in Trento as a base for excursions
According to the report, a family with bicycles got out of one of the mobile homes. They were apparently using the area as a starting point for further excursions. Trento is an ideal “base” for day trips to Lake Garda or the northern Italian Alps. If the three owners do not receive any parking tickets, they would have significantly reduced the cost of their mobile home vacation through this questionable parking action.
Residents in Italy complain about mobile home campaign: “Without rules and common sense”
The campers’ behavior is met with incomprehension by many locals. “How disgusting. No rules and no common sense,” one man complains in the comments under a Facebook post about the parking violation. “They act as if the area is just for them!” complains another. “They are not real campers and I will not add anything more,” comments a woman.
It is understandable that the city and residents are frustrated when public parking spaces are taken up by mobile homes. Especially since Trento has set up a parking space for mobile homes a little further north.
Parking is not free there, however, and space may be tight in the summer months. According to Promobil There is space for 33 mobile homes in the Sosta area, and one night costs 21.50 euros. The price includes video surveillance, toilets (also wheelchair accessible), hot water and mobile home service. And there are no fines, which can be very expensive when wild camping in Italy, nor any hassle with the local residents. (moe)
