Nutritionist Kozlovskaya: Lack of water leads to dry skin and oily hair
Water balance affects blood pressure, normal functioning of the gastrointestinal tract, the condition of hair, nails and general well-being, reminded endocrinologist and nutritionist Elena Kozlovskaya. She noted that greasy hair turned out to be a sign of a health-threatening condition. told in a conversation with Vechernyaya Moskva.
Water imbalance, she explained, affects the condition of the skin. This manifests itself in increased dryness, peeling, clogged pores. Lack of water in the body leads to increased production of sebaceous glands, Kozlovskaya added. “Therefore, if your hair quickly becomes greasy, this may indicate a lack of water in the body. A sufficient amount of liquid maintains the proper functioning of the gastrointestinal tract, promoting proper digestion, intestinal peristalsis, gallbladder function, and also prevents bile stagnation,” the doctor listed.
With normal weight, it is recommended to drink 25-30 milliliters of liquid per kilogram of body weight per day, she noted. With excess weight and no plans to lose weight – 30 milliliters of liquid per kilogram of body weight, and if you want to lose weight – 40 milliliters of liquid per kilogram of body weight, says Kozlovskaya. She also urged to take into account that alcohol and sweet carbonated drinks are not equated to liquid, but to food. In addition, with some diseases, for example, with kidney pathology, hypertension, heart failure, the doctor may recommend a different volume of water, she concluded.
