Mourning in the University world: Massimo Lo Cicero, a Neapolitan university professor and economist, has died at 73
Naples and the world of the University mourn the passing away today, Tuesday 23 July, of Maximum The Cicero. The man of Neapolitan origins was an economist, university professor and well-known journalist. He was 73 years old.
Life and Career of Massimo Lo Cicero
Massimo Lo Cicero graduated from the Faculty of Economics and Commerce of the Federico II University of Naples with a final grade 110/110 with honors in 1973. He immediately received a scholarship from the Ministry of University, annual and renewable for one year, at the Institute of Economics of the same Faculty. He was a great expert on finance, growth theory and economic policy.
Lo Cicero has held the chair at the Oriental Institute, the Suor Orsola Benincasa University and the Naval Institute in Naples and has also taught at Tor Vergata and at Sapienza in Rome. In the academic year 2012/2013 he was also responsible for the course in Banking and Financial Intermediaries at the Nettuno Telematic University in Rome.
His professional career has been wide and varied. In addition to his university teaching, Massimo Lo Cicero has also lent himself to political artcovering the role of representative of the PCI of Naples, municipal councilor and candidate for the Chamber.
He also has extensive experience in the field ofpublishing. The man has in fact played the role of editorialist and esteemed commentator for numerous newspapers, including The sun 24 hours, The Reformist, The Morning, The Money And the emporiuman online magazine of the Enel group.
Massimo Lo Cicero has also curated several Rai programs. In 2020, he was also elected Chairman of the Board of Directors of Interporto Sud Europa spa.
The tragic and unexpected news of his death shocked everyone in the city, reaching social media. Among the many messages of painful condolence addressed to him, there was also one expressed by the deputy Enzo Amendola:
“Massimo Lo Cicero was a man of thought, a farsighted economist, a nice and decent person. His loss saddens me greatly. I was fond of him. A hug to his family and loved ones”.
