Dynamic that recalls what happened to Simoncelli
The images of the on board had suggested that the fall of Alvaro Bautista during the Superpole Race at Misano it had been dangerous, but the side shot published by the Ducati rider on his profile Instagram leaves no room for doubt.
“When luck is on your side“, the words chosen by the two-time Superbike champion to accompany the images. Bautista lost the front at sunset, but somehow remained ‘hanging’ on the bike which, instead of sliding outwards, continued to turn only very sharply towards the inside, cutting off the path of the other riders who were rushing.
Bautista ‘went between’ Andrea Locatelli and Andrea Iannone, the latter managed to lift the bike in time to change the trajectory, thus avoiding the impact with the Spaniard’s Ducati. The dynamic recalls what happened in Sepang in 2011 when Marco Simoncelli remained attached to his Honda which returned to the racing line with the Italian rider hanging from the handlebars.
Colin Edwards and Valentino Rossi they could do nothing to avoid the impact with Marco Simoncelli even losing his helmet. Traumas to the head, neck and chest were fatal for Simoncelli.
