Football|Pontus Jansson was not satisfied with the results of the preliminary investigation.
Swedish Star defender of Malmö FF Pontus Jansson rose to the center of the commotion recently. Jansson was a member of a Whatsapp group where the club’s violent supporters have held anti-Semitic discussions.
Jansson, 33, slandered Malmö’s club management in the group and shared information about opponents’ whereabouts. Malmö launched their own internal investigation into the incident and ended up taking the captain’s armband from Jansson.
Jansson’s actions were also investigated in the preliminary police investigation, the results of which became public at the beginning of June. The messages gave the impression that Jansson would have reacted to anti-Semitic jokes with laughing emoticons. Later, pictures were spread on social media, according to which there were flaws in the conversations published in the preliminary investigation report.
Prosecutor Henrik Nordquist admitted for Aftonbladetthat an error had occurred.
Now Pontus Jansson has decided complaint about the matter to the ombudsman. Jansson announced on Instagram that he would make a so-called JO declaration, which in Sweden can be made by anyone who feels that the authority has treated him unfairly.
“Numerous inaccuracies in the preliminary investigation and the way I have been portrayed in the media have led me to make a JO announcement,” Jansson wrote in his update.
Pontus Jansson returned to Malmö after a long tour abroad in the summer of 2023. The team also has a Finnish defender Niklas Moisander.
Between 2014 and 2023, the large central defender played in Torino in Italy and in England in the shirt of Leeds United and Brentford.
Jansson played 27 matches in the Swedish national team between 2012 and 2020.
