Minister of Agriculture defends a model that allows fiscal balance and says it is necessary to understand the “difficulty” of reducing deficits
The Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Carlos Fávarosaid this Tuesday (June 18, 2024) that the 2024/2025 Harvest Plan will be “record”. According to him, it is necessary to be a model that enables fiscal balance and it is necessary “understanding the difficulty” with the goal of eliminating the deficit.
“We already had a record Harvest Plan in 2023/2024 and the only drawback raised by the Parliamentary Front at that time is that the volume of resources for equalization was not expected by the Parliamentary Front. And now, they sent a proposal”he said.
Fávaro gave an interview to journalists after having a meeting with the FPA (Agricultural Parliamentary Front) and with the Ministers of Finance, Fernando Haddadand Institutional Relations, Alexandre Padilha.
The head of Agriculture stated that “probably” the announcement will be made in Rondonópolis (MT), while the launch for family farming should be made at Palácio do Planalto, in Brasília.
It is expected to be held on June 25th for the family plan and on the 26th for the business plan.
Fávaro also said that it has become less relevant how much resources are allocated to equalizing interest (what the government assumes in terms of costs for loans granted to farmers). This participation of National treasure allows the reduction of fees charged.
“[É menos relevante] As long as there is greater allocation of resources from Rural Savings and demand deposits, which means it has a much reduced cost and banks can sell producers the lowest possible rates”he stated.
