Filippo Turetta was officially sent to trial for the murder of Giulia Cecchettin, occurred on November 11, 2023. The boy is accused of having kidnapped his ex-girlfriend, with a trap date for an evening at fast food, and of killing her with beatings, kicks and 75 stab wounds
The defense strategy seems to focus on psychiatric expertise, to avoid Turetta receiving the maximum sentence, which at this moment seems the most obvious outcome. Turetta, in fact, appears to have never been treated for psychological or psychiatric problems but some of his behaviors that emerged during the careful investigations carried out by the investigators could help the defense to obtain the green light for an expert opinion aimed at ascertaining his ability to understand and wanted at the moment he killed Giulia, reports Il Gazzettino.
The Prosecutor’s Office has begun to prepare the list of witnesses who will be called to testify at the trial. There will be around twenty or more, including investigators, RIS experts and IT experts, friends with whom the victim had confided about Filippo’s behavior and the neighbor who witnessed the argument that took place in the Fiat Punto parked in Vigonovo, outside Filippo’s house. Giulia, on the evening of November 11, after the couple had spent the afternoon and had dinner at the Nave de Vero shopping center in Marghera. The preliminary hearing has already been scheduled by the Gup Claudia Maria Ardita for 15 and 18 July.
