Aden (Al-Ittihad)
The British Maritime Trade Operations Authority said yesterday that a commercial ship 40 nautical miles south of Mokha in Yemen reported two explosions near it, adding that the ship and its crew are safe and on the way to the next port. The authority stated that the authorities are investigating the matter.
Since last November, the Houthi group has been targeting commercial ships sailing off the Yemeni coast, in both the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, causing obstruction of global shipping movement, and delays and additional costs on supply chains, as the Houthis have so far sunk a ship and seized control. On another ship, three sailors were killed in separate attacks.
