Mexico City.– Agents of the Specialized Unit to Combat Kidnapping (UECS) confronted alleged members of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) in Tierra Blanca, Veracruz, to free a group of at least 10 kidnapped migrants.
According to the first reports, there were no injuries despite the fact that the intense shooting caused panic among the inhabitants of this town, who released videos of the detonations.
Unofficially, the arrest of five alleged criminals was revealed, from whom weapons for the exclusive use of the Army, tactical uniforms and emblems of their criminal group were seized.
According to what was reported by the authorities, derived from intelligence work, UECS agents located a safe house in the Colonia Tierra Blanca El Viejo, where several foreigners were deprived of their liberty.
When they moved to the site, they indicated, the uniformed men were attacked with bullets by the alleged kidnappers, so they repelled the attack.
The confrontation generated alarm among the population, in addition to the closure of nearby businesses and homes.
After being attacked, the elements requested the support of the Civil Force, the National Guard and the Army, who immediately deployed to the area.
The alleged criminals tried to escape, so a chase took place through different streets and avenues, in which shots were exchanged.
According to testimonies uploaded to social networks, the shooting and the noise of the chases lasted approximately 20 minutes.
As part of the chase, a sedan-type car was abandoned on Agrarista Street, near the train tracks, with bullet holes, which could also be seen on the facades of some houses.
