American future
The silly season of the driver market in 2025 is gradually being defined not only for the seats of the top teams, now all assigned with the sole exception of the Mercedes one left vacant by Lewis Hamilton, but also in the lower half of the grid. There are still several official documents missing, but some movements seem clear.
Above all, the Esteban Ocon’s move to Haas: the French, more than ever at odds with the Alpine team in recent weeks, has already officially announced its separation from the Renault-owned team. From the information collected within the American team FormulaPassion.it can confirm that the #31 will continue his career in the team managed by Ayao Komatsu. This is a great coup for the Kannapolis team, which the former third Mercedes driver would have preferred to the Audi project.
The Doohan option and the crossed destinies of Bottas and Gasly
At this point Alpine could focus on a nursery pilot. No Mick Schumacher, currently involved in the WEC with the French team; the favorite is Jack Doohan, which risks being almost an obligatory choice given that there isn’t exactly a queue at the Enstone door to join the team. For the other seat – in addition to the possible permanence of Pierre Gasly – there could also be the option Valtteri Bottas.
According to what was reported by their British colleague Joe Saward, the two could remain in their respective teams or swap seats in 2025. Third wheel is the Chinese Zhou Guanyu, also looking for confirmation on the grid despite modest results. The chances of Logan Sargeant and Kevin Magnussen remaining on the grid, however, are decidedly slim, both now a foot and a half out of F1.
