The film Marvel’s Blades he would have just lost his own director, Yann Demange. This is yet more negative news for the film, which seems to be struggling to make progress.
News of these latest behind-the-scenes changes at Marvel comes from The Wrap, which says it has learned that Demange left the Marvel film “a while ago.” The report adds that the separation she was “completely friendly”. A replacement director has not yet been chosen.
Who has worked on the Blade film so far
The writer of Thor: Ragnarok Eric Pearson is moving forward with the script for the MCU film. Previous drafts were edited by Michael Starrbury, Nic Pizzolatto and Michael Green. According to an insider at The Wrap, Marvel is more interested in getting Blade right rather than shutting down the project quickly at the cost of losing quality. Mahershala Ali – who is set to play Blade – is said to still be attached to the film.
Blade was announced in 2019. The project found its first director in Bassam Tariq, creator of Mogul Mowgli, in September 2021, but he left the project just a year later. In the weeks that followed, more issues emerged, starting with a report claiming that Ali was frustrated with the film’s progress. Production was then stopped in October.
A month later Demange arrived, but just as work on the film restarted, Blade was put on hold due to workers’ strikes. screenwriters in May 2023. Filming restarted in November and Ali spoke positively about the project, but it has now lost its director. Blade is currently scheduled for release on November 7, 2025.
