A restyling made of small but fundamental details for Hyundai Tucson which is undergoing a mid-career facelift to remain among the best sellers on the market. The generation presented at the end of 2020 has in fact been renewed with some tweaks inside and outside the passenger compartment, without forgetting technologies and engines. Today we test the new Hyundai Tucson as a preview but before talking about the driving impressions, let’s find out how the Korean SUV has changed with this restyling.
Exterior designs
Obviously we don’t change the dimensions, with the Tucson facelift which intervenes on some aesthetic details. Such as the more defined front, effectively evolving the concepts of the Parametric Dynamics stylistic language. The grille has a more pronounced personality, with a revised bumper and a redesigned grille. The light signature is also more marked, with an intervention by the Koran designers on the Parametric Hidden Lights. Small changes also at the rear which offers greater presence on the road and similarly a renewed bumper design. With this restyling, the new Hyundai Tucson range also includes new colors and new wheel designs. As always then, on N Line, the sporty details stand out: the miniskirts, wheel arches and body-coloured protections and the 19” wheels just to name some of the aesthetic differences outside the passenger compartment.
Interior of new Hyundai Tucson
On board the new Hyundai Tucson 2024 the most important news is certainly the dashboard setting, with the seamless double screen borrowed from the Ioniq 5 which also arrives on the SUV after having also become the protagonist on all the latest models in the Korean brand’s range. We therefore find two displays, both 12.3”, one for the instrument panel and the other for the infotainment system. The driving mode selector lever is located on the steering column, with the steering wheel boasting a renewed design. The central console has also been revised, with space for induction charging and above all the USB-C sockets. The BlueLink interface now accepts Over-The-Air (OTA) updates with connectivity provided by Hyundai Live services. Thanks to the dedicated app and NFC technology, the Digital Key 2.0 arrives on the new Hyundai Tucson which allows you to unlock the car using your smartphone. The ADAS range is always very extensive, with the Hyundai Smart Sense package which includes lane keeping, adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency braking with recognition of cars, cyclists and pedestrians, just to name a few.
Engines
The range of engines it then includes several electrified options, with the most important innovation represented by the return of diesel to the Tucson offer. We start with the Full Hybrid which has a powertrain capable of delivering 215 HP thanks to the 1.6 T-GDI engine combined with a 6-speed automatic transmission and available in both 2WD and 4WD versions. Depending on the trim levels, the new Tucson is also offered with 48-volt mild hybrid options, both 160 HP 1.6 T-GDI petrol with front-wheel drive (MT or DCT) and 136 HP 1.6 CRDi diesel with 2WD and DCT gearbox. The range is completed by the 253 HP all-wheel drive Plug-in Hybrid version with 65 km in 100% electric mode (WLTP).
How’s the new Hyundai Tucson?
The restyling of the Hyundai Tucson therefore emphasizes what have been the strong points of the Korean C-segment SUV to date. From comfort, with the high-wheeled model of the Asian brand that offers space on board for families and long journeys, ensuring ergonomics and ease of use for those behind the wheel. The new, even more technological dashboard gives that touch of modernity to the already well-finished interior, while the return of the mild-hybrid diesel to the range represents an important choice by Hyundai which nevertheless rewards customer requests.
