They have been days of much news for the UANL Tigers. Until a couple of weeks ago, it was thought that the squad would be led by Robert Dante Siboldi, and there were even thoughts of possible losses and signings for the start of the Apertura 2024 tournament.
However, the unexpected departure of the Uruguayan strategist was just the beginning of turbulent times for the Monterrey squad. And, despite the fact that the problem with Siboldi would have been technically resolved with the arrival of Veljko Paunovic, the recent statements of Miguel Fuentes, who was Robert’s technical assistant, uncovered the controversy.
While the media continues to talk about Miguel Fuentes’ statements, the feline squad continues with its preseason in the Riviera Maya, ahead of the start of the Apertura 2024 tournament, and Veljko Paunovic would already have what would be his first starting eleven ready:
Goalie: Carlos Felipe Rodríguez (while Nahuel Guzmán serves his suspension matches)
Defenses: Javier Aquino, Guido Pizarro, Diego Reyes and Jesús Garza.
Defensive midfielders: Rafael Carioca and Fernando Gorriarán
Offensive midfielders: Luis Quiñones, Sebastián Córdova and Juan Brunetta
Attacker: André-Pierre Gignac.
Those who would be entering as recurring changes would be Marcelo Flores, Diego Lainez (who is going through an injury), Ozziel Herrera, Juan Pablo Vigón, Nicolás Ibáñez and back Jesús Angulo, who in one of those we will see playing as a central defender, since Paunovic prefers full-backs with greater exit, such is the case of Jesús Garza.
The fans are excited about this first strategy on Paunovic’s part, as it would contemplate the return of the Sebastián Córdova/Juan Brunetta duo, in addition to the fact that there is talk that they could sign players that the Serbian already coached in the Sacred Flock, such is the case of Alan Mozo, ‘Tiba’ Sepúlveda or Roberto Alvarado himself.
