The price of tickets|The planned price increases for HSL travel tickets seem unpleasant to many passengers.
“Vex the fact that you have to pay a hundred to get to work”, says someone waiting for a ride home at Kampi’s bus terminal Una Kuivaniemi.
HS reported earlier on Wednesday HSL is planning an average eight percent increase in public transport tickets from the beginning of next year.
Kuivaniemi says that he uses a three-zone season ticket, which currently costs just under a hundred euros. If, for example, the price of an ABC ticket were to be increased by eight percent, the new price would be around 107.35 euros.
Kuivaniemi says that he will continue to use public transport even after possible increases, because he has no other options right now.
He still wouldn’t stay watching the price increases indefinitely.
“Probably the maximum, after which I would have to get a car, is around 120 euros [kuukausilipusta]”, Kuivaniemi states.
He still says that for environmental reasons, he hopes that the increased prices would not drive people into private driving in droves.
In Kamp also waiting for the bus Joona Nuutilan think it would be good to strive for public transport to be free or at least as cheap as possible.
According to Nuutila, the increase in prices affects his and other students’ lives in a very tangible way, because students rarely have much extra.
“When it’s a bit tight, it’s boring.”
Nuutila currently pays 40 euros per month for students’ AB season ticket, which an eight percent increase would raise to a generous 43 euros. If the price of a season ticket were to rise above 50 euros, according to Nuutila’s own estimation, he would no longer travel by bus.
In the future, he plans to carefully consider whether there is a need for a season ticket or whether he could switch to using single tickets.
From next door reached from the stop Liisa Kuivasmäki says that in addition to bitterness, he also feels understanding towards HSL.
He feels bitter that the increases also apply to poor people who have no other option but to use public transport.
The understanding, on the other hand, arises from the fact that in a difficult economic situation, HSL’s options may be few.
Deputy CEO of HSL Vesa Silfver reasoned to HS on Thursday price increases with reduced use of public transport, as more and more people work remotely.
Kuivasmäki says that he hopes that the price increases will also provide better service than the current one. It might also bring more people to use public transport, he estimates.
I’m fighting waiting for the metro at the metro station with their ABC ticket Joseph Ferrer says that he already thinks the current prices are high.
He reminds that many other consumer products have also become more expensive in recent years.
Ferrer says that he still plans to use public transport in the future as well, because he has to get to the workplace somehow.
Kirkkonumme heading for the departing train at Rautatintor Vilma Martsolan the price of the travel ticket is about to go up anyway, as he is about to lose his student status upon graduation.
Then the price of Martsola’s ABCD ticket rises to just under 110 euros. An additional eight percent increase on top of that would bring the price close to the pain point, he says.
“But on the other hand, it’s cheaper than owning a car, a bit of a double-edged sword in that way.”
