Lionel Messi shakes the world of football: he announced that Inter Miami will be the last team of his career

The Argentine star was asked about this last phase of his career, about whether he was “assuming there is less left,” and the ESPN journalist maintained that “the world of football is not prepared” for when Messi leaves football.

“I don’t think I do either. I’ve done this all my life, I love playing ball, I enjoy the training sessions, the day-to-day life of the games… And yes, there’s always a little bit of fear that it’s all going to end,” Messi pointed out.

“It was a difficult step to leave Europe to come here (to Inter Miami). The fact of having been world champion helped a lot to see things differently as well. But I don’t think about it. I try to enjoy it, that’s why I enjoy everything a lot more because I am aware that there is less and less to go and I have a good time (…). I enjoy the small details that I know I will miss when I don’t play anymore,” he added.

He was then asked if Inter Miami will be his last team before hanging up his boots. “Yes, I think so. Today I think it will be my last club,” he said.

MLS itself echoed Messi’s words by publishing the following message on the social network X: “Messi will end his career in our league.”

The genius from Rosario, who will turn 37 in a couple of weeks, is the reference for Inter Miami, where he shares the locker room with former teammates and friends of Barcelona such as Luis Suárez, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba.

Messi also faces the Copa América this summer with the Argentine team, which defends the title won in 2021 against Brazil at the Maracana stadium.
