Lamborghini one step away from history
Everything is ready for the historian Lamborghini’s debut at the 24 Hours of Le Manswith the team Iron Lynx who in the meantime took to the track at the Circuit de la Sarthe for Test Day. A day in which the former Formula 1 driver Daniil Kvyat he finished with his best time of 3:28.222, equivalent to the 7th place overall but over 1 second behind Kevin Estre, author of an excellent performance at the wheel of the Porsche 963 which is a candidate as the car to beat for this edition.
Towards the first points
The Russian-born, naturalized Italian driver, who shares the SC63 with Mirko Bortolotti and Edoardo Mortaraaims to improve the performances of this start of the championship, given that the trio #63 from the Sant’Agata Bolognese company has never gone beyond 12th place obtained in the home race in Imola, and therefore still finds himself without points in the standings awaiting the French 24 Hours.
Positive first impressions
Even though it is only a Test, Kvyat still highlighted positive aspects in view of the first free practice sessions, scheduled today starting from 2.00 pm and which will start the countdown that will lead to the start of the most awaited event of the season : “We did all the tests and did a good number of laps – explained to Sportscar365 – we carried out our program correctly and in some phases we felt quite competitive. Of course it is difficult to draw conclusions, but the sensations were good. We had the feeling that nothing important was missing. There is definitely still a lot of work to do, but for now we have a good pace and we need to continue to improve the lap time and find little things here and there. It’s always good if we have good pace and we show it on the track. It’s good for us drivers and for the morale of the team. It’s not 100% representative, but there were occasions where we had good pace. Sometimes you can’t see it well, but there were small flashes of pace at Imola and Spa until the retirement. It’s just testing, but we wanted to see where we are compared to the others and I think we’re at a good pointso we just have to continue like this.” .
Two Lamborghinis in testing
Kvyat then added another factor that facilitated the team’s work during the test day: for the first time in an official session, in fact, the car #19 registered in the championship IMSA and driven by Matteo Cairoli. “We were able to work on two different programs and the efficiency was greater – he added – we were able to tick the boxes quicker and be more confident. This was also positive.”
