The virtual president-elect of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, announced this Monday that will meet on Tuesday with a delegation from the government of the US president, Joe Bidenin Mexico City.
“Tomorrow we are going to receive a delegation from President Biden, I will receive them tomorrow at the campaign house. Maybe tomorrow we will be giving information,” Sheinbaum said in press conference in the Treasury Room of the National Palace, after meeting with the president Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
Although she did not specify who the members of this delegation will be, the meeting will take place at Claudia Sheinbaum’s campaign house, located in the Iztapalapa mayor’s office.
The meeting with US officials will be a crucial step in the agenda of Sheinbaum, who has emphasized during his campaign the need for a relationship of “coordination” and “collaboration” with the northern neighbor, but not subordination.
Transition and Formation of the New Cabinet
During his press conference, Sheinbaum also announced that next week he will name his government cabinet, formally beginning the transition process with the current president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
“I can tell you in advance, I am going to name my cabinet next week and, from there, with the appointment of the cabinet, I would begin my transition process,” he stated.
Mexico’s presidential cabinet is made up of 19 secretaries of State and the Legal Department, in addition to 20 other organizations such as Pemex, the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) and the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), known collectively as the expanded cabinet.
Sheinbaum stressed the importance of a joint cabinet for his administration, which will cover the period 2024-2030.

Sheinbaum met with López Obrador at the National Palace, where they discussed various issues of national relevance, including a “very broad discussion” on the constitutional reform of the judiciary.
