Some locations had been without water since the beginning of May, when the floods began
The water supply at the ETA (Water Treatment Station) Ilha da Pintada, in Porto Alegre (RS), was resumed on Saturday morning (June 8, 2024), announced the Dmae (Municipal Department of Water and Sewerage). According to the agency, after the Guaíba River fell at the beginning of last week, cleaning, recovery and equipment replacement work was carried out.
Dmae reported that the resumption of supply is gradual and it may take longer for water to reach the taps of houses in more remote areas.
Ebat (Treated Water Pumping Station) Ilhas, which distributes water, was put into operation on Saturday afternoon (June 8) and supply returned to normal in the early hours of Sunday (June 9). According to Dmae, the water was then sent to the residents of the islands of Pavão, Flores and Marinheiros.
“It is possible that water leaks will be detected at some points in the network, which could impact the restoration of the distribution system in the coming days. Shut down at the beginning of May because it was completely flooded in the flood, ETA Ilha da Pintada supplies the islands of Pintada, Pavão, Flores and Marinheiros”, informed Dmae.
