Miriam Helin six performers have been selected for the finals of the singing competition.
Soprano will continue in the competition next week Josipa Bilić From Croatia, baritone Axel Daveyan From Armenia, tenor Junho Hwang From South Korea, soprano Justyna Khil From Poland, soprano Kathrin Lorenzen from Germany and a mezzo-soprano Jingjing Xu From China.
The Finnish singers had already dropped out of the continuation in the preliminaries.
The competition the professional jury has been chaired by a soprano Soile Isokoski.
“The jury was surprisingly unanimous in terms of the finalist selections,” says Isokoski in the announcement of the competition.
The orchestra final will be held at Musiikkitalo on Wednesday, June 12, starting at 6:30 p.m., and you can watch it live at Yle Areena.
Final race there are two works in the program, at least one of which must be an opera, oratorio, cantata or concert aria. The Helsinki City Orchestra will play in the finale by Mark Elder under.
The winner will receive 50,000 euros, the second 40,000 euros, the third 30,000 euros and the remaining three finalists 10,000 euros each. The total amount of the prizes is 190,000 euros.
The competition is organized by the Finnish Cultural Foundation.
