Deputy Foreign Minister Bogdanov: the West is very late in recognizing Palestine
Western countries are very late in recognizing Palestine, said Russian Presidential Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov. His words are conveyed TASS.
At the same time, he called these steps in the right direction. The diplomat recalled that the USSR recognized the Palestinian state.
“When we recognized Palestine, it was not just a declaration, these were concrete political and diplomatic steps. They have an embassy in Moscow, we have a representative office in Ramallah,” Bogdanov noted.
On May 22, Spain, Ireland and Norway recognized Palestinian independence. Countries such as Luxembourg, Portugal and Belgium also intend to recognize the state in the near future.
