Rally car racing|Toyota has had a difficult season.
Toyota’s team manager Jari-Matti Latvala sings his own performance loudly rally site in an interview with Dirtfish.
“The situation is certainly not the best. I need to do my job better. I don’t necessarily have the best control over the drivers at the moment,” says Latvala.
Toyota’s season in the World Series has been challenging. The stable’s full-time drivers Elfyn Evans and Takamoto Katsuta are in third and sixth place. The series is currently under the command of Hyundai when the lead is held Thierry Neuville.
The differences are still reasonably small. Neuville is 18 points ahead of Evans.
Championships Brought to Toyota Sébastien Ogier and Kalle Rovanperä only drive part of the World Series. Ogier is still fourth in the World Series and ahead of Katsuta, even though he has missed two rallies.
Ogier has won two races and Rovanperä one. When still a third part-time driver for Hyundai Esapekka Lappi has taken one race to his name, there are only two race wins left for drivers driving the entire series.
Latvala says he is thinking about how to help drivers perform better.
“We see that the car is good, but the drivers’ performances are not the best,” Latvala admits.
The World Series continues on the last weekend of June, when the Polish World Rally is held.
